Sponsored by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), the community shlicha (emissary from Israel) serves as a cultural, informational and advocacy liaison between our community and the people of Israel. The shlicha provides cultural and educational services in the community and a menu of study, travel and volunteer opportunities in Israel.
The Israel Center disseminates information about Israel, coordinates educational programs for individuals and groups of all ages and is involved in advocacy and fund-raising efforts. The Birthright Israel Program offers a free, first-time peer travel experience to Israel for young adults. Each year, the Israel Center brings world-class performing and visual artists with cross-cultural appeal to Milwaukee.
Paz Goldschmidt and her family arrived in Milwaukee as our new Shlichut family on August 20th. Paz has joined the MJF staff as the full-time Community Shlicha, Israel Center Director. Paz and her husband, Amir, lived on Moshav Moledet, near Afula, and are the parents of two boys, Ido who is 4 years old and Noam who is one year old.
Paz has a strong understanding about Israel and the Diaspora, and brings an enthusiasm and love for Israel that is inspiring. Because they lived close to and are familiar with our Partnership region, Paz’ supervision of our P2K programming will be enriched. Amir is from Afula and spent time during his student years at the Kaduri School and the Jordan Valley College, both our strong partners in the region.
