Yom HaZikaron, Yom HaShoah and Yom HaAtzmaut, together called Yamim or “days,” reflect the great journey of the Jewish people — from slavery to freedom, from victimization to sovereignty. People from all faiths and backgrounds can find meaning in the Jewish experience. That’s why this year we will be celebrating Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) and the Walk for Israel in a new location. The Milwaukee County War Memorial is a fitting setting for all Milwaukeeans to commemorate the establishment of Israel and to celebrate peace.
