Leadership Development

Weinstein Fellowship

The George Weinstein Fellowship is the leadership development program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. It brings together a diverse group of young adults to learn the leadership skills necessary to become an active leader and decision maker in the Milwaukee Jewish community. Weinstein Fellows go on to leadership positions not only at the Federation but at synagogues and other Jewish organizations throughout the city.

Weinstein 6 Fellows

Fellows meet monthly to learn from professionals and volunteers in our community, as well as from each other. A key part of the curriculum is a highly subsidized trip to Israel in which Fellows meet with peers in our Partnership2Gether region, Sovev-Kinneret, as well as tour and learn about leadership through an Israeli lens.

The Fellowship was established by the Weinstein family to honor the memory of George Weinstein, a Milwaukee businessman and philanthropist who was committed to ensuring that the Milwaukee Jewish community goes from strength to strength across the generations. It has become a nationally-recognized program and is studied by other communities as a model for developing young leaders.

Weinstein 7 Co-Chairs

Becca Guralnick & Jonah Levenberg

Hello! We are Becca Guralnick and Jonah Levenberg, the co-chairs for the seventh cohort of Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s George Weinstein Fellowship. We invite you to apply to be a fellow in Weinstein 7 and become a community leader in our great Milwaukee Jewish community. A vibrant community like Milwaukee doesn’t just happen. As a past participant, I (Jonah) found it eye-opening to understand the broad reach and intentionality of the Federation and our community leaders to build and sustain this Jewish community – even caring about organizations that I wasn’t familiar with.  The program will inspire you to want to be an active participant and care about the growth and longevity of our community.

You will also form bonds of friendship and even professional connections with other fellows that will last a lifetime. Did I (Becca) mention that, as a fellow, you will have the opportunity to go to Israel? In the spring of 2020, the whole cohort will spend an incredible week in Israel learning about our own Jewish identities and Milwaukee’s connection with Israel. In Weinstein 7, get ready to be empowered with how you can make the greatest impact in our community!
